Welcome to the APS/UNM ELS/Bilingual Summer Institute
homepage. This Summer Institute was initiated in 1999 to help teachers
obtain ESL or Bilingual Endorsements and thereby help alleviate the shortage
of teachers certified to teach second language learners. The Institutes
are held at elementary schools which affords the Institute participants
an opportunity to work with ESL students as a part of the UNM courses they
are taking. Special adult ESL classes are set up for the parents
of the ESL students. As evidenced by this web page created by the Institute
participants, the integration of technology was an important focus for
the Institute.
The Summer Institute is made possible by a Title VII grant from the Office of Bilingual Education and Minority Language Affairs and the UNM / Albuquerque Public School Partnership Programs. For more information contact hmahn@unm.edu
